SCADA & Integration Lead – BESS Projects
Full House is partnering with a leading Australian renewable energy business, delivering large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects that keep the grid moving towards a cleaner future.
This role will lead the design, integration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA, control, and telemetry systems for BESS projects – from first concept to operational handover. You’ll be the go-to discipline lead, owning the technical interfaces between SCADA, BESS control systems, and external platforms, ensuring everything works seamlessly and meets regulatory, network, and market requirements.
We’re looking for someone who has delivered an operational BESS project end-to-end, with a strong focus on integration and commissioning through to energisation, registration, and operational readiness.
What you’ll be doing
Lead the SCADA and integration scope for BESS projects from concept through to commissioning.
Develop SCADA architecture and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with client, network service provider, and regulatory standards.
Specify, configure, and program SCADA software, HMIs, PLCs, RTUs, and telemetry systems.
Manage and execute FAT and SAT processes, developing test procedures and leading delivery from the client side.
Integrate SCADA with EMS, DERMS, DWERDS, and other operational platforms.
Implement SCADA cybersecurity measures aligned with industry and client standards.
Ensure compliance with AEMO, NSP, and DWERDS requirements for registration and commissioning.
Prepare and submit SCADA documentation, including point lists, test results, and compliance evidence.
Coordinate with AEMO, NSP, and DWERDS teams during commissioning to achieve acceptance.
Provide technical leadership during installation, commissioning, and fault finding.
Maintain detailed SCADA documentation, control narratives, as-built drawings, configuration files, and operating manuals.
Liaise with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and network/market operators to meet project milestones.
Train and support operations teams during handover.
Identify and deliver improvements to SCADA performance, reliability, and maintainability.
What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering (or trade equivalent).
Proven experience delivering at least one operational BESS project, leading SCADA integration and commissioning.
Minimum 5 years’ SCADA engineering experience in the energy, utilities, or renewables sector.
Understanding of AEMO commissioning and registration processes for generation/BESS assets.
Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and other communication protocols.
Experience integrating SCADA with EMS, DERMS, and grid operator systems.
Knowledge of SCADA cybersecurity requirements and implementation.
Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to lead a discipline workstream within multi-disciplinary project teams.
The role environment
A mix of office and site-based work.
Travel to project sites will be required.
If you have the drive to lead SCADA and integration on some of Australia’s most exciting renewable energy projects, we’d like to hear from you.
