About the Role
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a motivated Trainee Control Systems Officer to join our Information Management & Operational Systems team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting directly to the Control Systems Team Leader, this is an excellent opportunity to work with communications systems that keep our trains running smoothly. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and availability of real-time control systems critical to efficient and safe train operations.
More specifically, in this role you will:
Administer control systems networks, including managing user accounts and interpreting log files during fault investigations and software upgrades.
Conduct fault analysis, perform maintenance and system modifications to ensure real-time reliability and optimal performance of train control systems.
Undertake training and maintain competency in control systems, including required safety accreditations and licences.
Uphold strict safety and compliance standards, coordinating with internal teams to maintain safe and efficient train service operations.

About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Formal qualifications in Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or other related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
An understanding of scripting, network fundamentals, and configuration.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and achieve planned outcomes in a safety critical environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Excellent literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail, with the capability to support diverse stakeholders and communicate ideas clearly.
Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Willingness to participate in ongoing development and training.

There is one permanent full-time opportunity available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
