North Queensland Land Council (NQLC) is a Native Title Representative Body appointed under the Native Title Act 1993. NQLC’s region covers approximately 943,300 km2 of lands and waters and is appointed by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), to assist Aboriginal people with all aspects of their native title claims.

The NQLC is seeking an experienced and adaptable Finance Officer to join our dynamic team. Working alongside finance professionals within a broader multidisciplinary team, you’ll play a key role in supporting our financial operations. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer/ Human Resources Manager.

We are looking for a candidate that possesses:

· A curious mindset and a willingness and aptitude for learning new systems and processes

· Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines

· An eye for details and commitment to accuracy

· Strong technical skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

· Experience with could-based ERP software

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· An adaptable and flexible attitude

A key responsibility of the role will be the fortnightly processing of payroll. Other duties include but are not limited to:

· Accounts payable and receivable processing and reconciliation

· Bank and credit card reconciliation

· Purchasing

· Data entry

· Travel bookings

Applicants will need to demonstrate a sensitivity and understanding of current Indigenous issues and aspirations and be able to effectively communicate with Indigenous Australians.
