This is a dynamic opportunity for a compassionate support worker to provide therapeutic care to children and young people who have experienced trauma, grief, and loss. Grounded in trauma-informed and strengths-based practice, this role offers the chance to work collaboratively with carers, families, and professionals to promote healing, resilience, and stability.
About the Role
As a Therapeutic Support Worker – Care Services, you will:
- Provide flexible, developmentally appropriate support to children and young people in therapeutic foster care
- Deliver positive role modelling and behaviour support to promote emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Assist children in accessing education, health services, recreational activities, and family contact in line with their care plans
- Respond calmly to crisis situations and monitor wellbeing, liaising with external services as needed
- Work closely with carers, case managers, and families to ensure coordinated, holistic care
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a nurturing, predictable environment
Position Details
- Fixed term position until 30 June 2026
- 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
- $88,307 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging
- A current and valid Victorian driver’s licence is required for this role

What We're Looking For
We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification (or undertaking) in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, Psychology, Welfare Studies or related field.
- Experience in working and building rapport with children and young people with complex needs/behaviours and ability to act as a positive role model/mentor.
- Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work as part of a diverse team, including staff and volunteer carers
- Understanding of the impacts of trauma on children and young people and knowledge of trauma informed care/practice.
