Electrician / Controls Technician - Brisbane / South Queensland

About the Role

This role supports customers throughout Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and Bundaberg regions. You'll work alongside an experienced technician team based across Queensland and interstate, and be backed by strong technical and administrative support.

Your responsibilities will include:

Installation and commissioning of control, electrical, irrigation, and automation systems for greenhouses and horticultural operations

Preventative maintenance and service work on control systems and machinery

Responding to equipment breakdowns and onsite troubleshooting

This is a hands-on role requiring a passion for systems-based work and a willingness to develop new skills in greenhouse technologies such as:

Environmental and climate control systems

Retractable screening (internal and external)

Heating, fogging, and ventilation systems

Electrical wiring, trays, and cable management

Automated logistics and potting systems

Fertigation and irrigation systems

Training on advanced greenhouse control systems will be provided, including exposure to sensor-based automation tools that integrate climate and irrigation controls based on real-time crop data.

Licences, Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

At least 3 years' experience as an Electrician or Controls Technician

Strong knowledge of automation systems and electrical instrumentation

An electrical licence (preferred but not essential)

Experience in the irrigation or horticultural industry is a strong advantage

Construction Induction Safety Certificate (White Card)

Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence or willingness to obtain

You're a reliable and motivated professional who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. You are proactive, safety-conscious, and comfortable taking initiative in field-based environments.

Additional qualities:

Comfortable working at heights and in hot conditions

Willing to travel regularly throughout Queensland and occasionally interstate (including overnight stays)

Strong communication and computer literacy skills

A desire to learn and grow in a niche technical industry
