The Role
The Finance Analyst Telco is a key member of the Corporate Services Finance team and is responsible for supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner by overseeing and running accounting and financial activities.
This role will analyse and provide financial information to the Senior Finance Business Partner to assist in budgeting, forecasting and sound financial decision making. They will collate and consolidate finance data using the company’s finance systems and other systems used in the business unit, to enable effective management of profit and loss and enhance economic sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month and year end close tasks including journals, P&L review, variance analysis, Capex review, analysis and reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting – manage cost centre and project budgets and provide support to cost centre management
- Take responsibility for preparing and submitting mandatory annual ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) Eligible Revenue Return
- Undertake process improvements in the revenue accounting area. Maintain the natural accounts and the organisational / cost structure in TechOne for the Telecommunications Group
- Identify cost reduction and opportunities to improve financial performance. Provide ongoing support to improve efficiency in managing project resources via timesheet analysis
- Provide information that will support management to make strategic decisions. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and accounting standards
- Maintenance of internal policies and procedures updating to ensure ongoing compliance
- General group financial support – i.e. queries, reporting, debtor management and purchase order management
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
- Post-graduate qualification or studying towards CPA/CIMA/CA or similar
Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong experience in management accounting principles
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyse and report on financial information (budgets, forecasts, P&L and annual reports)
- Demonstrated experience in product costing, budgeting forecasting and management reporting
- Strong experience in Excel
- Experience in a rail or telecommunications environment is looked upon favourably
