Greyhound racing in Queensland is entering an exciting new era with the merger of the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club and the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to form the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC). QGRC is currently transitioning operations to The Q — a state-of-the-art greyhound racing facility located in Purga, on the outskirts of Ipswich. The venue features three separate sand racetracks and a vibrant community club complete with a 350-seat restaurant, a sports bar, a gaming room with 60 machines, and a kids’ club.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in race day operations, ensuring all three racetracks are maintained to the highest standards for racing and trialing sessions. This role suits someone with a keen eye for detail, practical experience in grounds maintenance, and a strong interest in the sport of greyhound racing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience as a Driver or grounds maintenance, or in a similar role is preferred
• High attention to detail and a proactive work ethic
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed (up to 20kg)
• Positive attitude and ability to perform under pressure
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Work with the Track Curator to prepare and maintain racetrack surfaces
• Conduct regular inspections of racetrack surfaces
• Assist in setting up and maintaining track infrastructure
• Operate plant and equipment including tractors and water trucks
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols at all times
• Support the Grounds team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
