Role Overview
This is not a desk-only operations role. At Displays 2 Go, our Operations Manager leads from the front — on the workshop floor, and onsite, building sets, displays, and exhibitions alongside the team. We’re looking for a trade-qualified or highly skilled builder/fabricator who can combine hands-on technical expertise with proven leadership skills.
Your #1 priority will be getting things built to our high standards and your #2 will be leading and organising the crew to make that happen efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Be actively involved in the day-to-day build of displays, exhibitions, and fit-outs, including carpentry, fabrication, and onsite installation.
Lead and oversee a team of 8, coordinating daily workloads, scheduling, and liaising with other departments.
Provide approachable, on-the-tools leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and pride in workmanship.
Manage inventory, logistics, and order fulfillment to keep projects moving on time and on budget.
Drive operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Requirements
Operations manager essential – minimum 5 years, leading and managing staff, ideally (but not essential) within the exhibitions, display, shopfitting, events, or related industries.
Trade background essential — e.g. cabinetmaker, shopfitter, exhibition builder, carpenter, metal fabricator, or similar. Proven hands-on building and installation skills with the ability to jump in and work alongside the team.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Full Australian working rights, driver’s licence, and willingness to travel and work weekends as required for installations.
