Choose Your Own OT Adventure!

🌿 Work-Life Balance Isn’t Just a Buzzword Here

We're hiring OTs who want to feel good in and outside of work.

Hi, we’re Very Helpful Chats. We’re a fully remote, neurodiversity-affirming allied health practice supporting Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, and otherwise neurodivergent humans. We’re looking for occupational therapists who are passionate about doing meaningful work without sacrificing their well-being to do it.

🧠 We Know Work-Life Balance Means Different Things to Different Brains

Whether you’re autistic, ADHD, a spoonie, disabled, or just tired of working in a way that doesn’t fit your nervous system, we believe work should support your life—not dominate it.

Here's how we walk the talk:

✅ You set your hours. Want to work 10–3 while your kids are at school? Start work at dawn or sleep in until 10? Want five short days or three longer days? We say yes to doing what works for you

âś… Work from home forever. No commuting, no sensory overload, no tiny offices with flickering neon lights.

âś… Work with neurodivergent clients across the lifespan - choose your favourite client age group

✅ Protected admin time. Your clinical hours are balanced so you’re not writing notes after you log off for the day.

✅ We don’t do the burnout grind. No unachievable KPIs, no guilt-tripping about productivity, no push to “just squeeze one more client in.”

âś… Take real time off. Employees get paid sick leave (2 weeks), annual leave (4 weeks), and public holidays (2 weeks-ish). Contractors get the flexibility of jump-in, jump-out work.

âś… Neurodiversity-affirming workplace. Neurodivergent and disability accommodations? Absolutely! Corporate nonsense or neuro-normative expectations? Absolutely not.

What We Offer Everyone:

Supportive neurokin – A 90% neurodivergent team that’s not just supportive but genuinely fun. Scroll right to the end to see what our team said about working for Very Helpful Chats!

Team connection through Slack – as much or as little connection as you need - we chat, share resources, and support each other daily. Fun fact: 55% of our team are INFJs! Introverts & extroverts are welcome here.

Slack channels for everything – neurodiversity resources, memes, trivia, true crime, DND. Plus, work channels for OT discussions and NDIS tears.

Admin superstars who handle all the behind-the-scenes work (referrals, marketing, scheduling, tech tutorials)

Individual supervision based on your experience level – weekly, fortnightly or monthly with our senior OT (even contractors get one free hour monthly!)

Group supervision - monthly multidisciplinary group supervision for our psychology and OT teams

CPD calendar - in addition to all of the above, we host monthly presentations from respected neurodiversity-affirming colleagues

Report peer review - the quickest way to improve your skills through supportive feedback.

We'd LOVE to Hear From You If:

You have AHPRA registration as an OT (this is mandatory as OT is a legally protected title)

You’re neurodivergent and/or have lived experience of disability, chronic illness or mental health challenges

You have experience working with neurodivergent people

Have your own quiet workspace, reliable internet, and a sick webcam

Have started learning about the neurodiversity-affirming paradigm

You're tired of workplaces that don't understand your needs

You’d rather get straight to the point than hit people up with small talk

How to Apply:

Questions? Please email Senior OT Kim Eldridge at [email protected]

No questions? Apply here: https://wkf.ms/3FtfcmG - Please include a cover letter that tells us about YOU as a person, don't just repeat the facts on your resume. Without meaning to brag, we're pretty popular - we always get more applications than positions we can fill. Make sure to highlight your neurodiversity-affirming approach and experience in your cover letter!

Want to know even more about working at Very Helpful Chats?!

This is what our team said when we asked them what they liked about working at VHC:

“It really feels like a community. Everyone is welcoming and makes time to have a chat. It’s a great place to be, especially as a neurodivergent who hasn’t had many environments like that!”

“I love working collaboratively with people from a range of backgrounds and skills. It's a friendly and safe space”.

“We're hilarious! I don't feel judged if my brain is scattered or I'm overwhelmed. The understanding and empathy for how you're feeling and how you work is really refreshing. I didn't realise the amount of pressure I felt to be "neurotypical" in other jobs until I started this one.”

“Everyone is passionate about supporting ND humans. We have a diverse range of clinicians with different backgrounds, and this makes for a healthy workplace to discuss the work that we do.”

“There have been so many opportunities for growth since I’ve worked here. I’ve had ample opportunities for supervision and training and a wealth of resources to learn from. I feel very lucky.”

“I look forward to my days at VHC. It’s been unlike any other workplace! I feel lucky to be here but also appreciated, and like they feel lucky too. It’s a symbiotic relationship.”

“The CPD subjects are interesting; we have a variety of different formats, which is brilliant.”

“It's not your regular workplace, which makes it an awesome workplace”

This is what our team said when we asked them what they would say to people thinking about applying for a job at VHC:

“Apply if: you are struggling at your current workplace because they aren't supporting you as a neurodivergent person; if you want to work with people who you can feel safe to unmask with; and if you want to empower and support other people to feel comfortable and safe in their neurodiversity”

“Do it! If you feel like the VHC values resonate with yours, then it might just be the perfect fit.”

“Just do it! Especially if you're neurodivergent. I get so much more work done at VHC compared to other workplaces because I get to work from home, in an environment optimised to how my brain works, around people who don't judge me for the way I work. I didn't realise how exhausting I used to find work, until I got to try this format, and now I don't think I can go back to the "normal" way.”
“That you should do it! Just apply now you won't regret it”

“Only cool ppl allowed”
