About the role

The Senior Policy Officer will lead the development of the policy framework for this new innovative business unit. The Senior Policy Officer will also identify possible legal, compliance and regulatory issues and liaise with the appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure the provision of advice to leadership that supports NSW Health, public sector and broader regulatory and legislative requirements.

Health Manager Level 4, starting salary from $141,974 - $169,151plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the development of the policy framework to support the unit’s establishment, governance structure and business processes.
  • Identify legal, regulatory and industrial risks associated with the internal sourcing of the contingent medical workforce and liaise with internal stakeholders to inform advice to leadership.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to inform the development of new or revised employment frameworks to support sustainable workforce models
  • Monitor legislative and industrial changes that may impact the design or implementation of the in-house model.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal partners including Legal & Regulatory Branch and Workplace Relations Branch, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, key advice to inform policy and operational decision making.

About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience demonstrating a legal, regulatory or compliance background
  2. Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, assess risk, develop policy and provide solutions to novel policy challenges.
  3. Strong written communication skills
