We’re looking for someone with solid works experience (relevant experience may include council crew, farming, forestry, or other practical outdoor roles) who is ready to join our on-ground restoration team.

The Derwent Catchment Project is a community‑based, not‑for‑profit organisation working across the Derwent Valley, Central Highlands and Brighton municipalities. Covering almost one‑sixth of Tasmania, we deliver practical projects to improve land and waterway health.

You’ll be part of a small, supportive crew delivering:

River restoration and flood-resilience works

Strategic weed management and revegetation

Fencing and farm support projects

Machinery operation (utes, tractors, excavators) and chainsaw work

What we’re looking for

At least 3 years’ practical outdoor works experience (council, farm, forestry, or similar)

Demonstrated chainsaw skills, including felling

Fit for manual handling and field work in rugged terrain

Strong safety awareness and teamwork skills

Manual driver’s licence

Desirable

Fencing and revegetation experience

Excavator or arborist/tree felling experience

GPS data collection skills

ChemCert (or willingness to obtain)

White card
