We pride ourselves on delivering industry-leading advice and specialise in the preparation, analysis and resolution of legal costs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Sydney office as a Paralegal on a permanent part-time basis (3 day per week, 7.5 hours per day plus 1 hour unpaid lunch break).
Salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
Position Overview
As a Paralegal at Blackstone Legal Costing, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team and be responsible for:
Assisting with, but not limited to:
drafting of documents, including bills of costs and costs statements
preparing solicitor/client and party/party certificates of assessments
compiling disbursement invoices
chronology documents
drafting notice of objections and responses
preparation of files for costing
topping and tailing bills of costs and costs statements
preparation of invoices
undertaking research of relevant legislation, regulations, and case law.
Document quality control including editing, proof-reading, cross-checking, and formatting of documents
Administrative management of legal files includes opening new files on practice management software, creating and sending service agreements, filing emails and documents, and updating file information on our data base.
Ad-hoc duties as required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/qualities:
Students studying a Bachelor of Law in their first or second year are encouraged to apply.
A Certificate IV in Legal Services or Diploma of Legal Services will be highly considered.
Strong organisation and time management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint).
Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team and autonomously.
An understanding of the Australian legal system, including laws, regulations, legal terminology, and court procedures.
