Communication and Fundraising Manager - Remote / Flexible Location
Vets for Compassion
Are you more vocal than a kookaburra at sunrise?
We're looking for a communicator who can make our message echo across the bush.
Use your in-depth knowledge of strategic communications and fundraising to help grow the Vets for Compassion donor base and help us improve animal welfare across Australia.
Who are we?
Vets for Compassion (VFC) is a volunteer based not for profit organisation specialising in disaster response work and emergency wildlife rescue assistance.
Our team of highly skilled veterinarians, vet nurses, wildlife darters and wildlife rescuers work around the clock, be it to perform life saving surgery, rehabilitate sick and orphaned wildlife, or attend to displaced or stranded wildlife or domestic animals. Our service to the community is based on our desire to bring to the forefront, the critical issues facing our wildlife on a daily basis through urbanisation and clearing of natural habitat.
And this is where we need you.
The Role
We are after a Fundraising and Communications superstar!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to lead the development and effective implementation of the VFC’s fundraising and communications strategy.
The key goal is to acquire, retain, engage and grow the VFC donor and support base.
And who are you?
First and foremost, you are a beautiful story teller and you know how to read the room. Your innate ability to produce exquisite content, has gifted you the ability to tailor each piece of communication for each variety of supporter and donor audience and platform, including but not limited to donor updates, engagement emails and fundraising appeals. In essence, we are looking for someone who can truly inspire and engage; someone who can sell our vision and mission to the masses, and encourage them to assist us financially on our journey.
But it’s not all right brain work. We also need someone with a bit of left brain finesse who can analyse, evaluate and review to ensure that the content and projects produced are working, and where needed, identify opportunities to enhance the performance of each. You will come to the table with experience across a variety of analytics platforms (SEO strategies and email analytics) experience to monitor effectiveness of communications and fundraising activity, including in live time to amend accordingly for optimised results.
But don’t worry, you aren't going this alone. You'll work with a team more tightly knit than a mob of kangaroos at a waterhole. Our field and content teams will help you to create compelling and effective donor engagement communications and fundraising appeals, as well as our events coordinator to contribute to the success of the annual VFC gala event night.
And of course, it goes without saying that you must align to the values and work that we do as an organisation. A sound knowledge and/or understanding of the Victorian political landscape as it relates to animal welfare - or the ability to quickly acquire this - would also be most advantageous. It can be a tricky environment out there so it’s also important that you have the ability to turn complex science into stories the average wombat could understand!
We can’t promise a dingo won’t try to steal your lunch, but we can promise a meaningful role in helping us improve animal welfare in Australia.
We may not be able to match big corporate salaries—but we can offer a bigger impact, a supportive team, and real financial benefits through tax-free salary packaging.
If you can juggle all that and more, check out the attached PD and pop in an application. We look forward to the chat!
