Ital Paint Pty Ltd is currently searching for a highly experienced and qualified Painter and Decorator to work in and around Melbourne but not limited to Melbourne.

The Painter and Decorator’s primary role is to independently (and at times as part of a team) performing all duties that are related to painting and decorating at the finest quality and at a high professional level.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This is a permanent full- time position based on 38 hours a week
Extra duties will be paid at the appropriate rate
Must hold a valid drivers license and own vehicle
Must have a White Card and Working With Children Check
Competitive salary package ranging between AUD 70.000 to AUD 80.000 + Superannuation, subject to work experience and appropriate qualification(s).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The right candidate will be the team leader of a small group, and will need to show management skills as well as professional ones.

Will need to report any issues to the company director.

SPECIFIC TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

Preparation, cleaning, filling and sealing gaps and holes of all kind of surfaces such as plasterboard, bricks, woodwork, timber, cladding and concrete in readiness for painting.

Use appropriate paint depending on the surface and environment to be painted.

Clean surfaces and then apply where appropriate varnish and stain.

Remove wallpaper and then applying the required coating to protect, maintain and ensure smooth service for later painting.

Add adornments/decorations to walls and to other surfaces where required.

Selecting and preparing paints, mix paints to achieve the required colour and tone.

Knowledge and understanding of how to use pigments, oils, thinning and dry additives.

Fixing and colouring wood surfaces.

Ensure that all painting equipment such as brushes, other painting tools are thoroughly cleaned after work completion.

Work safely at all heights.

Use scaffolding where and when necessary.

Ability to communicate effectively with other contractors, clients and colleagues.

PREREQUISITES & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have the following skills and experience:

Certificate III in Painting and Decorating

At least two (2) years of previous experience in painting and decorating in the variety of surfaces is essential

White Card and Working With Children Check essential

Own a car or van, and carry a full Victorian driver’s licence

Ability to work independently, supervise and lead a dedicated team

Excellent communication skills

Respectful, trustworthy and capable of meeting work deadlines
