Locum Social Worker - Hospital Emergency Department
📍 Katherine, NT | 💰 $70-$80 per hour + super | 🏡 Accommodation & Travel Provided

We're seeking an experienced Hospital Social Worker for a 6-week locum contract starting 15/09/25 in the Northern Territory, with a possibility to extend. This role is based in the Emergency Department and involves working with patients and families in high-pressure, emotionally charged situations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide crisis intervention and short-term support within a hospital setting.

Conduct domestic and family violence risk assessments, develop safety plans, and link clients to appropriate support services.

Manage child protection concerns, including mandatory reporting and liaison with relevant agencies.

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Deliver culturally appropriate services to a diverse client base, including Aboriginal communities.

Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for AASW membership.

Experience in hospital-based social work, ideally in emergency or acute care- No new graduates

Strong knowledge of domestic & family violence interventions and child protection processes.

Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, after-hours shifts, on-call, and 1pm-10pm rosters.

Current driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
