About the Opportunity:
John Paul College is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our Primary School as Dean of Pedagogy.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping teaching and learning, leading pedagogical excellence, and driving measurable improvements in student outcomes.
As a member of the Primary School Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership in pedagogy, curriculum design, teacher development, and the implementation of both the College’s Pedagogical Framework and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The Dean of Pedagogy – Primary leads with vision, purpose, and a deep commitment to teaching excellence.
The Dean of Pedagogy - Primary at John Paul College is responsible for:
Driving a consistent and high-impact approach to teaching and learning across Kindergarten to Year 6.
Leading professional learning, coaching, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with the Performance and Development Framework.
Embedding evidence-informed practices, including High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS).
Overseeing the development and implementation of a cohesive and vertically aligned PYP Programme of Inquiry.
Fostering a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous improvement among staff.
Supporting curriculum alignment with the Australian Curriculum (Version 9.0) and ensuring transdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning.
Mentoring early career teachers and contributing to the development of future leaders.
This is a highly relational and strategic leadership role suited to an inspiring educator who can influence, lead innovation, and create impact at scale.
What You’ll Bring:
We're seeking an exceptional educational leader who is passionate about advancing teaching excellence and transforming learning outcomes in our vibrant Primary community.
To excel in this role, you will bring:
Proven success in a senior pedagogical leadership role, with demonstrated impact on teaching practice and student achievement.
Deep knowledge of contemporary pedagogy, curriculum design, and student wellbeing in the primary years.
Strong experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), including the capacity to lead its alignment with the Australian Curriculum.
A track record of driving high-quality professional learning, teacher development, and coaching frameworks.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and relational leadership skills.
Experience in leading instructional improvement through collaboration, planning, and data-informed decision-making.
A commitment to upholding the College’s core values of mutual respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence.
Qualifications & Compliance
Current QCT registration and relevant teaching qualifications (Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred).
Current First Aid certification.
Eligibility to work in Australia.
Willingness to undergo employment screening and meet child safety legislative requirements.
