Our client is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join their Operations team in Tamworth. This is a key role responsible for maintaining all operating equipment to ensure it delivers its full design duty, reliability, and availability.
This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Role with all entitlements and potential move to permanent thereafter.
About the Role
The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Performing fabrication, welding, and machining.
- Repairing electrical or mechanical equipment.
- Installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment.
- Repairing the plant and buildings.
You will be expected to minimise unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems, and identify opportunities for improvement by constantly reviewing the operation of plant equipment and systems. The role also involves establishing and maintaining a computerised maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts and maintenance history. Some weekend work and overtime will be required for call-outs to repair breakdowns.
Key Accountabilities
- Comply with relevant OHS/WHS legislation.
- Ensure plant and equipment are in safe working condition and meet specified standards.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the Operations team.
- Implement programmes and procedures for plant cleanliness.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, modifications, and repairs on all general plant and equipment.
- Ensure maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated.
- Coordinate capital projects, liaising with the Engineering Services Manager.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis on breakdowns and safety issues as needed.
- Monitor the use and inventory of spare parts and supplies.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
- Sound knowledge of OH&S and Environmental Policies and Legislation.
- Current Driver's and Forklift licence.
- EWP Operations licence.
- Qualified Fitter and Turner.
- Over 5 years of industry experience working with manufacturing and maintenance teams.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AX programmes.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Relevant tickets to perform tasks.
