- Work alongside a dynamic team of experts including agronomists, extension practitioners and content creators, to deliver engaging, solution-focused communications and engagement in a complex farmer-focused environment.
- Part-time (0.6 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until 30th August 2026.
- Base salary range: $95,231 – $100,643p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
About the area
The UWA School of Agriculture and Environment is a research-intensive school that spans the broad disciplines of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Agricultural Science and Environmental Science. WeedSmart is a national communications and extension project, with a team based in the Western, Southern and Northern growing regions. It is run out of the University of Western Australia and has both financial and non-financial partners, including, but not limited to agricultural supply chain companies and agricultural research organisations.
About the opportunity
- Assist in organising industry events including conferences, workshops, field days, and the annual WeedSmart Week held in July, working closely with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and strong engagement.
- Coordinate WeedSmart’s digital presence across platforms such as the WordPress website, podcast and video publishing, and social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), in collaboration with the content creator, project team, and annual communication planning.
- Liaise with graphic designers and video editors to produce marketing materials, support digital communications activities including newsletters, webinars, and short videos, and contribute to engagement analysis reports and strategy development to enhance WeedSmart’s reach and impact.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, agricultural science, agribusiness, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a nuance for messaging suited to agricultural audiences.
- Substantial relevant experience in marketing, communications or publicity with specific experience in initiating and delivering engaging digital products.
- Excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills including Microsoft suite, website management (Wordpress), and experience using Canva, Trybooking, social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Buffer), and MailChimp.
Note: Occasional interstate and intrastate travel may be required, as well as occasional weekends. The Successful applicant will hold a current “C” class driver’s licence.
