We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our team and contribute to the success of exciting and new projects. The Telecommunications Field Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing NBN and private network infrastructure to deliver high-quality broadband services to residential, business, and government customers. The role involves working with fibre optic, copper, and fixed wireless technologies, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the design, development, and implementation of NBN projects

Develop, monitor and control project budgets to ensure that all activities are completed within the financial constraints

Perform technical calculations, analysis, and modelling

Implement and manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems on-site

Conduct equipment tests and provide detailed reports on performance

Troubleshoot engineering systems and offer technical solutions

Collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure project goals are met

Prepare technical documentation and presentations

Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations

Diagnose and repair network faults across copper, fibre, and wireless mediums.

Conduct continuity, attenuation, and optical power tests to verify service performance.

Perform preventative maintenance to ensure network reliability and compliance with SLAs.

Support NBN technology migrations (e.g., copper to fibre upgrades).

Liaise with customers to explain service issues, resolution steps, and usage instructions.

Provide detailed work reports, test results, and updates to the NBN service management team.

Assist in infrastructure expansions, including new estate builds and business connections.

Qualifications:

Proven 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably in Telecommunication

Strong understanding of engineering principles and technical processes

Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and data network fundamentals.

Experience in fibre splicing, copper jointing, and coaxial cabling.

Familiarity with OTDR, power meters, TDR, and other testing equipment.

Knowledge of NBN access technologies (FTTP, FTTN, FTTB, HFC, Fixed Wireless, Satellite).

Ability to read and interpret network designs, maps, and work orders.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Excellent communication skills and customer service focus.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

Proficiency in AutoCAD software and engineering tools

Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Additional Qualifications & Certifications

ACMA Open Cabling License (with Structured and Fibre endorsements).

White Card (Construction Safety).

Working at Heights certification.

Confined Spaces certification (desirable).

Police Clearance (once successful).

Current driver’s license.

Implement Traffic Management Plan

Working Conditions

Field-based role involving travel to various locations.

Work in all weather conditions and at varying heights.

Participate in after-hours or on-call work as required.
