I’m partnering with a leading contract catering provider to recruit a Chef Manager for a premium private school in Melbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity for a capable and motivated chef looking to step into a management role while staying hands-on in the kitchen. The role suits someone with extensive experience working in busy premium cafe's.

The Role

This is a dynamic, hands-on position where you’ll oversee the preparation of all retail food items on site, as well as catering for school events and functions. You’ll lead a small team, maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations within a supportive school community. Occasional weekend work may be required for special events.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and work alongside a small kitchen team in daily food production

Oversee retail food service and event/function catering

Ensure food safety, compliance, and cost control are consistently met

Work collaboratively with school stakeholders

Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen operation

About You

An experienced and confident chef, ready to take a step up into leadership

Strong understanding of food safety and compliance (HACCP)

Great communication, time management, and team leadership skills

Previous experience in schools, aged care, or contract catering highly regarded
