About the Role:
South West Healthcare (SWH) is inviting applications from skilled and experienced registered nurses for a permanent position as a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) within our Surgical Services Unit.
As the NUM, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the human, physical, and financial resources within the Surgical Services Unit. You will lead the Surgical Services team in a consultative and participative manner, ensuring well-planned and coordinated services for clients and their families. Additionally, you will provide clinical leadership to foster patient-focused and outcome-oriented nursing care.
Position Overview
- Permanent, Full-time (80 hours per fortnight, with a monthly ADO)
commencing late October 2025
- Warrnambool Campus
- Classification: Nurse Unit Manager Level 2
- Salary: $136,344.00 per annum, plus superannuation
Part-time and/or flexible work options may be considered for this role.
What You Bring
In addition to meeting the selection criteria outlined in the Position Description, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following key requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a current Registration Certificate as required by AHPRA.
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience, including people management experience.
- Sound knowledge and experience in contemporary practices in surgical nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead, consult, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including strong negotiation and delegation skills, to foster productive working relationships.
- Expert knowledge of clinical systems that promote safe patient care.
- Understanding of organisational structures and processes.
- Effective management of human and financial resources.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation related to Nursing and Midwifery practice.
- Embodiment of South West Healthcare values.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Post-graduate management qualification or willingness to complete one.
- Experience in change management processes.
