• Strengthening our policy settings and ties with the US and UK to support Australia’s nuclear powered submarines and other advanced technology projects
• Working with our Pacific partners to improve regional security
• Gathering government and open-source data to analyse applications to advise whether activities will affect Australia’s national interests
• Assisting and guiding Australian Defence industry to find suitable export markets to improve Australia’s economic resilience.

About our Team

We are a fully integrated civilian-military workforce, drawing on high quality and motivated people from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines who embody Defence and Australian Public Service values.

While we offer a high degree of flexibility in the way we work, each position is located in Canberra. As such, successful applicants from outside Canberra, would need to move to Canberra if successful.

Our Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate for a SP&I policy role should possess:

• A strong background in research and analysis
• Excellent communication skills
• Practiced leadership and people skills
• Great at building relationships
• Demonstrated critical thinking abilities, sound judgement with an innovative approach to problem solving, and the capacity to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Experience in policy development, implementation, and evaluation would be highly beneficial.
