Solar Engineering and Installation Manager

One of Australia’s largest Virtual Power Plant operators is looking to hire a Solar Engineering and Installation Manager to lead the safe, compliant and high-quality rollout of solar and battery systems across NSW by building an installation base, coordinating logistics and supply chains, and managing operational risks — all while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within cost estimates and specifications. The role will also oversee WH&S and quality control across Australia.
An immediate start is required.
The role will also include:
Ensuring all installations are compliant with DER, CEC, AS/NZS standards and local DNSP regulations.
Leading the technical onboarding and upskilling of contractor base.
Conducting periodic audits and corrective actions on installation and service practices.
Maintaining a risk testing, QA reviews and technical commissioning if needed.
Managing distributor and supplier relationships to ensure availability of compliant hardware, tracking and forecasting inventory requirements based on installation pipeline.
Contributing to documentation development (manuals, SOPs, WHS protocols).
Supporting performance Service, Project, and Community teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
Requirements
Available to start immediately.
An Electrical Engineering degree with experience in renewable energy operations and installation (solar and battery systems).
Registered or eligible for membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Experience managing subcontractors or field teams.
Strong understanding of DER/WHS/CEC/VPP guidelines and frameworks.
High attention to detail and excellent troubleshooting capability.
Technically strong with a “get it done” mindset.
Comfortable working under executive direction and collaborating cross-functionally.
Hands-on and grounded in field realities; leads by example.
Willing to grow into higher leadership responsibilities as the business scales.
Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment.
Valid driver’s licence; ability to travel to project sites nationally, but mainly in NSW.
Australian citizen or permanent resident.
