About the role

Are you passionate about driving cultural change and fostering a culturally safe environment in the workplace? CALHN is seeking an Aboriginal Cultural Consultant (Learning and Development) to lead the coordination and development of learning programs and resources with significant Aboriginal content.

Reporting to the Director, Organisational Development and Workforce Strategy, this key role involves creating culturally responsive training initiatives that enhance inter-professional collaboration, promote ongoing learning, and ensure support for a strong and sustainable Aboriginal workforce. By reinforcing strategies, structures, and processes, you will help CALHN deliver services that are respectful, culturally safe, and inclusive.

In this role, you will work closely with the Principal Aboriginal Workforce Consultant, the RAP Committee, the Aboriginal Health team, and key leaders across CALHN’s clinical programs. You’ll also establish effective relationships with Aboriginal service providers, external agencies, and training providers, ensuring the delivery of impactful and culturally appropriate programs. Your work will contribute to a system-wide, holistic approach to improving cultural capability, shaping policies and frameworks that align with CALHN’s commitment to Aboriginal workforce development. About You

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual who is passionate about driving positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations to deliver complex projects and culturally responsive programs.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong multi-agency partnerships, collaborating with government agencies, local services, and community networks to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with experience in preparing reports, policy submissions, and managing your time effectively to meet priority project deadlines.
  • A solid understanding of equity and disadvantage, along with a comprehensive knowledge of policies, legislation, and services impacting Aboriginal cultural safety in the workforce and communities.
