Allied Health Lead - Paediatrics – AHP Level 4

Permanent, Part-time Position (0.4FTE) commencing 13 October 2025

The Role:

The Allied Health Lead – Paediatrics role provides leadership and coordination of the paediatric outpatient services delivered by Allied Health in Hospitals & Primary Care North. This includes providing a point of contact, communication, advice and support for multi-disciplinary Allied Health staff, and engaging with nursing and medical teams on behalf of Allied Health in a leadership capacity.

The role will work closely with Allied Health Discipline Leads in providing high level advice on service improvements, consulting on matters affecting delivery of paediatric allied health services, developing strategies to meet current and future requirements and leading service changes where required.

This role will see you coordinating a team of some 30 outpatient staff, a mix of passionate locals and new Tasmanian adventurers who will welcome your energy and experiences.

The Team:

The Allied Health Paediatric team is a large and dynamic team of allied health professionals consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, speech pathologists, psychologist and social workers. Services are delivered to both paediatric inpatient and outpatient areas, with this role specifically allocated to paediatric outpatient services. The team is collocated on site with the Paediatric Outpatient Service and operate in the lutha tower at the Launceston General Hospital.

As an integral member of our Paediatric multi-disciplinary team, you will play a leading role in safeguarding children and adolescents through delivering contemporary, evidence-informed practice and high-quality outpatient experiences. You will be looked upon as a clinical mentor and leader.

Our allied health, nursing and medical paediatric services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing from 13 October 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health course of study at a recognised tertiary institution, and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • A minimum of five years post graduate experience directly relevant to the duties of the position.
  • Expertise in paediatric care; in particular, behavioural, or mental health.
  • Holds, or working towards, post-graduate qualifications relevant to the position.
