• Part-Time, Permanent (0.6 FTE)
• Classification: SCHADS Level 3 with a salary range of: $76,451 - $81,984; per annum pro rata + Superannuation
• Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
• Location: Burswood, WA

About your new role

Family/Carer Peer Workers (PWs) draw on their lived experience of supporting a family member, friend or significant other who lives with distress, trauma and/or substance abuse in order to support others in similar situations.

Guided by Intentional Peer Support (IPS) and National Lived Experience Workforce Guidelines, PWs provide emotional, social and service support through one-on-one family peer support (onsite or outreach), facilitating peer support and education groups, and transdisciplinary teamwork. In their work, they emphasise connection, mutuality, exploring worldviews and moving toward what is meaningful to the person they are supporting.

What you will bring to the role

• Strong emotional resilience including the ability to sit with discomfort and distress and people in crisis.
• Sound relational skills, including empathy and non-judgement.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt communication to diverse need.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and to build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations.
• Ability to self-reflect, translate feedback into practice and engage in personal and professional development.
• Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma
• Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery
• Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery

• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
• Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
• Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car
