Join us in building a network for good; one that ensures regional Australia is not left behind in the digital future.
About You & the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and practical In-Home Connection Specialist to join our growing field team. In this role, you’ll install fibre services directly into customer premises, bringing our next-gen network to life. From splicing fibre and installing Optical Termination Devices (OTDs), to routing internal and external cabling, your work ensures customers receive exceptional broadband from day one.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in doing clean, high-quality work, enjoys customer interaction, and thrives in the field—rain, hail or shine. You’ll work closely with our On-Property Services Team to deliver the internet the regions deserve.
Key Responsibilities
Install fibre optic services at customer homes and businesses, including external lead-ins and internal wiring.
Mount and configure Optical Termination Devices (OTDs), power supplies, and customer interface devices.
Perform fibre fusion splicing, termination, and testing to meet strict technical standards.
Determine and execute the best cable path from pit to premises, minimising visual impact and disruption.
Perform site surveys, risk assessments, and job documentation before and after each install.
Coordinate and work closely with the Customer Network Delivery Technician to ensure the lead-in conduit is installed and ready as part of your installation on the day
Educate customers on their new service and ensure it’s tested and working before leaving site.
Troubleshoot basic faults and escalate issues where required.
Maintain a high standard of safety, tidiness, and professionalism at all times.
Use mobile apps and tools to manage jobs, complete forms, and capture installation data.
Requirements of the Role
Experience with fibre optic installations, ideally in residential or SME environments (nbn, OptiComm, or private fibre networks).
Sound knowledge of fibre cabling practices including splicing, testing (OTDR, power meter), and fault diagnosis.
Confident working at heights (e.g. ladders, roof cavities) and in confined spaces (e.g. pits, underfloors).
Comfortable interacting with customers and explaining technical concepts simply.
Valid Australian driver’s licence and clean driving record.
White Card (Construction Induction) and Working at Heights tickets required.
ACMA Open Registration with relevant endorsements (Fibre, Structured Cabling) highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups.
Why Join Us?
This role is perfect for someone who is motivated, reliable, and eager to be part of a growing industry, working on essential telecommunications infrastructure projects.
Competitive pay and opportunities for career growth in a rapidly expanding infrastructure company.
Five weeks annual leave and 3 days community service leave.
Be part of a team delivering critical fibre broadband to rural communities, making a real impact on connectivity.
Hands-on work in civil construction, installing telecom pits, operating light earthwork machinery, and maintaining high worksite standards.
Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where problem-solving and teamwork are valued.
Play a key role in building reliable infrastructure that supports businesses, families, and education in regional areas.
If you’re someone who thrives in outdoor, hands-on work and wants to be part of a company driving real change for rural Australia, we’d love to hear from you! Apply now and join Rural Fibre Co in revolutionising regional connectivity.
