Female Support Worker (Gender requirement under Section 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 VIC)
About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated, proactive, and resilient female Support Worker to join our team, supporting a young client with Autism and complex behavioral needs in the Pakenham area. This role requires someone who is calm under pressure, physically fit, quick-thinking, and experienced in providing structured, safe, and person-centered support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent, active support in line with the client’s routine and behavior support plan
Ensure safety during high-risk situations, including potential absconding behaviors
Deliver personal care efficiently, with dignity and respect
Respond appropriately and calmly to challenging behaviors, including instances of escalation and aggression
Implement and document restrictive practices in line with NDIS guidelines
Maintain accurate progress and incident reports
Work collaboratively with the team, asking for support when needed
Encourage and maintain structure and routine for the client
Requirements
Female applicant (Genuine occupational requirement under EO Act 2010)
Previous experience working with individuals with Autism and complex behavioral needs
Sound understanding of restrictive practices, behavior support strategies, and NDIS reporting requirements
Physically fit and active; able to respond quickly if needed
Emotionally resilient and able to maintain professionalism in high-stress situations
Ability to remain proactive and forward-thinking in a dynamic support environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Must be located within or near the Pakenham area
Mandatory Checks & Qualifications
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with children check
Current First Aid & CPR
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Relevant qualification in Disability, Community Services or similar
Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transport
