The Role
The Contractor Workforce & Portfolio Branch is responsible for delivering robust enterprise labour hire and commercial procurement outcomes for ASD. This recruitment process is seeking to fill Procurement Administration and Procurement Support Officer roles across a number of sections, including Labour Hire Support, Procurement Delivery and Commercial Procurement.
While a strong interest and some experience in government procurement is favourable, candidates looking to use their business management, finance, workforce or stakeholder engagement skills to make a difference to business areas are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Duties of the Role:
ASD 4 - Procurement Administration Officer
- Provide support in the operational requirements of a procurement activity and support the coordination, delivery and reporting of procurement activities.
- Provide administrative and process support to the team and ASD business areas as required.
- Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, recommend solutions for issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes and seek advice and guidance on more complex issues.
- Liaise with supervisors, staff and stakeholders and respond to simple enquiries relating to procurement activities.
- Seek clarity and understand the reasons for decisions and recommendations and how they are relevant to the work being undertaken.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Understand the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, procedures and compliance obligations and explain the relevance to work responsibilities.
- Support business improvement – have an eye for opportunity and contribute to improvement in team processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of Australian Signals Directorate’s corporate requirements including relevant policies, work practices and procedures necessary to achieve work area outcomes.
ASD 5 - Procurement Support Officer
- Work collaboratively to assist the team, stakeholders and subject matter experts to establish and finalise procurement activities and resolve issues that may arise.
- Understand and apply the operational and technical requirements of a procurement activity and assist in the coordination, delivery and reporting of that activity.
- Contribute to procurement activities whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and procurement policies, processes and procedures.
- Assist with the provision of advice in relation to procurement activities.
- Liaise with supervisors, staff and stakeholders and respond to moderately complex enquiries relating to procurement activities.
- Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, recommend solutions for issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes and seek advice and guidance on more complex issues.
- Understand the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, procedures and compliance obligations and apply these to procurement activities.
- Support and initiate business improvement – assist in creating efficiencies in team processes and with ASD business areas in relation to procurement activities.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Australian Signals Directorate’s corporate requirements including relevant policies, established principles, work practices and procedures necessary to achieve work area outcomes.

ASD 4 – Procurement Administration Officer
Under direction, our ideal candidate will perform administrative tasks supporting a broad range of procurement activities, including procurement delivery, procurement-related finance, procurement support and contractor induction. The candidate will be organised, demonstrate attention to detail and have the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
The candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to stretch themselves with the ability to adapt to meet new challenges in order to support their team to achieve their goals.
ASD 5 – Procurement Support Officer
Under limited direction, our ideal candidate will provide support to the team to assist in undertaking a broad range of less-complex procurement activities and achieving the required team goals within tight timeframes. They will be enthusiastic about building a career in procurement and developing knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and supporting instructions.
The candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to stretch themselves with the ability to adapt to meet new challenges in order to support their team to achieve their goals. Ideally, they will be keen to develop their procurement and leadership skills and build effective stakeholder relationships that support the work of their team.
Across both roles, candidates should possess the following skills and strengths:
