Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our team at the Limestone Coast office.

The role is responsible for:

Responding to child abuse notifications and investigation outcomes, reviewing and reassessing cases as needed.

Conducting investigations with a child-centred focus that prioritises children's safety while supporting families to provide safe and effective care.

Supporting children in out of home care to reconnect with their birth families, strengthening relationships and promoting successful reunification.

Preparing concise, evidence-based written and verbal reports, including providing testimonies as a witness during court proceedings.

Contributing to the protection of children by assessing risks of abuse, neglect or harm, ensuring all concerns are documented and reported in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

To be successful, you will have:

Knowledge and understanding of children and young people in regards to developmental stages, vulnerability and resilience.

Experience at providing written and verbal reports which are concise, informative and based on an analysis of evidence gathered.

Skills in developing and sustaining effective working relationships across government, non-government, and community sectors.

Demonstrated ability to build staff skills by integrating social work methodologies that promote critical thinking and reflection.

Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage workloads by organising and planning tasks, while prioritising responsibilities to meet deadlines and service demands.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
