The Role
As a Senior Case Worker, you will be part of our Youth Services team which operates 6 shelters across the Central Coast assisting young people aged 16 -24 years. Working within Coast Shelters Trauma Responsive Framework you will strive to enhance the lives of young people in our crisis accommodation programs.
The position is responsible for the coordination and day to day running of youth refuge, overseeing strength-based case management and Coast Shelter’s living skills program, to support young people’s transition to independence and stable accommodation. The position provides support to Case Workers and Support Workers, providing them with effective supervision, professional development and individual case management coaching and feedback guided by the Youth Service Manager.
All about You
Success in the role will demand an understanding of the causes and impact of homelessness and an empathic, strengths-based approach to those in our community who may find themselves on the outer: homeless and disadvantaged.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications at Diploma level or higher in a related discipline, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
• Advanced casework and assessment experience
• Experience working in accordance with person centred practice and trauma responsive care principles• Advanced understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, systems and the impact of trauma and its effect on child behaviour and development
• Ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate with a range of colleagues to build understanding and knowledge and improve outcomes for clients, with the ability to vary the approach in alignment with the target audience and encourage reflective practice
