Upper Hunter Youth Services, located in Muswellbrook NSW, is a community based organisation funded by the Department of Communities and Justice. We are dedicated to empowering young people by providing them with the support and opportunities they need to thrive. Through our range of services and youth programs we aim to provide our youth and their families with case work support, essential life skills, resilience, and to foster a sense of community.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Youth and Family Case Worker to join our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our young people.
Job Summary:
As the Youth and Family Case Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support to our young people and their families within the community. Your role will involve offering support, advocacy and referrals to ensure positive wellbeing outcomes through early intervention support services, which include:
Conducting assessments, developing and implementing case plans, and providing ongoing support to our youth and their families.
Facilitating youth programs that promote life skills, resilience, and a sense of community, empowering our young people to reach their full potential.
Work closely with our team, community partners, other service providers and agencies to promote positive outcomes for our youth.
This is a 30 hour per week part-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Deliver case management to young people and their families.
Develop and implement high quality individualised case plans tailored to the specific needs of each client.
Build trusting relationships with our youth, providing guidance and offering support for their educational, social, and personal challenges.
Program Delivery:
Facilitate evidence and skill based programs and activities that cater to the needs and interests of young people at our Youth Programs Centre and in local schools.
Community Collaboration:
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with schools, community organisations, and other stakeholders.
Advocate for youth needs and represent the organisation at relevant meetings and events.
Co-ordinate with schools and community organisations to enhance program delivery, reach and impact.

Essential Criteria:
Education and Experience:
Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services and/or relevant experience.
First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk, or willingness to obtain.
Current Driver’s Licence – Class C Required.
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
Skills and Competencies:
Sound knowledge and understanding of issues confronting young people, particularly in the Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter and Singleton areas.
Ability to work effectively with young people (10-18 years) from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to deliver case management including developing high quality individualised case plans.
Ability to work with individuals and groups in a holistic and flexible manner.
Ability to facilitate evidence and skill based programs
High level of interpersonal skills relating to effective communications, attention to detail and the ability to inspire others and contribution to a positive team culture.
Understanding and commitment to Work, Health and Safety principles and guidelines.
