About the role

The Plant Culture team are seeking a trade qualified Sales Assistant to join our retail plant nursery in Milton, NSW. As a casual role based in our Milton retail nursery, this position offers the opportunity to be part of a passionate team dedicated to providing outstanding customer service and plant expertise. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on horticulturalist and have an ability to engage with landscapers, trades and customers to select the perfect plants for their needs.

What you'll be doing

Proactively engage local trades and follow up on plant enquiries

Drive and generate sales growth through relationships and recommendations

Build our trade and customer base through business development and marketing strategies

Provide insight and advice to customers on ideal plant selection for theirs gardens and indoor plant and pot combinations

Make suggestions on plant design ideas for residential properties

Have an eye for aesthetics and merchandising standards, presenting our plants and pots to look their best

Maintain exceptional plant care standard and maintenance of plant health

Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge to assist customers in selecting the right plants for their gardens

Answering customer inquiries and tracking orders

Maintaining the indoor retail shop and outdoor nursery yards appearance, including stocking shelves, watering plants, and ensuring the nursery is clean and well-organised

Process sales transactions and maintain inventory management in Shopify. Keep our online website pricing and images up to date

Experience with Shopify POS system preferred; training provided for the right candidate

Contributing to the overall success of the nursery through participation in team meetings and initiatives

What we're looking for

Experience - Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent qualification and / or minimum 5 years of nursery retail experience

Confidence - outgoing with an ability to speak confidentiality to a range of people and independently offer plant advice

Plant knowledge - a strong understanding of plants, their care requirements, and their suitability for different garden conditions

Friendly and helpful - excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers

Attention to detail - a eye for design and an ability to present plant and pot displays like a magazine shoot

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, across weekdays and Saturdays

Valid Australian driver's licence required for occasional trade visits and plant deliveries

Ability to lift and move items up to 20kg and work outdoors in various weather conditions

Must have unrestricted work rights in Australia
