EARLY YEARS EDUCATORS
Casuarina Steiner School has three positions available for early childhood educators with experience and/or training in Steiner/Waldorf education. Positions are five-day or part-time contracts until the end of 2027 with the potential to extend and can either start immediately or at the beginning of 2026.

Situated on the sub-tropical Mid-North Coast, on the edge of beautiful bush land in the beachside city of Coffs Harbour, Casuarina Steiner School offers a unique education for children from playgroup to Class 6.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Our Peach Blossom class is for children turning 5 in the year. Children attend three days a week.
Our Kindergarten class is for children turning 6 in the year, and is a gentle transition into formal schooling. Children attend five days a week.
Our early childhood classes are grounded in Steiner Education principles, particularly an anthroposophical understanding of child development. The young child is engrossed in learning that fully engages their senses, and adults continually develop their inner skills and resources to ensure they are “worthy of imitation”.
Educators work alongside the Class Teacher to support all aspects of the program, in a accordance with their classification level.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
Supporting students to follow and engage with all aspects of the daily rhythm.
Preparation of food, craft and other materials related to delivery of the program or special events.
Supporting the class on bushwalks and other excursions
Providing in-class support for individual and small group work as directed by the teacher and/or the learning support coordinator.
Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education/Behavior Plans and Personal Care programs.
Performing playground supervision duties.
Contributing to the welfare, health and safety of students including administering first aid and medications under the direction of the teacher and in compliance with correct policies and procedures.
Participating and assisting in whole school activities.
Documentation of student learning such as anecdotal records.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
Understanding of how to work with young children in the age range of 4 to 6 years with care, love and professionalism, including appropriate behaviour guidance
Ability to communicate with families in a respectful, professional and friendly way
Ability to lead activities with children individually or with smaller groups to promote the development of the whole child including physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
Ability to safely fulfil the physical requirements of the role such as bending, sitting on the floor, crouching down.
Commitment to the philosophy and goals of Steiner/Waldorf Education
Commitment to ongoing learning in Steiner education and contemporary educational practices
Current NSW Working with Children Check and first aid certificate (or willing to acquire)
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
Experience or training in Steiner/Waldorf education, especially in the early ye
SALARY & CONDITIONS
These positions are classified as Classroom Support Services under the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
These roles are term-based (38 weeks per year plus 4 weeks annual leave). The classification level will be either Level 2 or Level 3, depending on your skills and experience. The annual salary base is from $76,244 to $81,384 (pro-rata).
