The Senior Project Officer is a significant role that walks alongside the Project Manager and the Yokai Healing our Spirit Team as we work closely with the West Australia Government to deliver the WA Stolen Generations Redress Scheme to Survivors of the Stolen Generations.

The role will help shape and deliver reparations, support engagement, track progress and build relationships that uphold the strength, dignity and amplifies the voice of Survivors.

The Senior Project Officer is fundamentally a project role that is relationship focussed and will deliver the following:

• Cultural safety as a priority.

• Build and maintain relationships with community, government and other stakeholders.

• Compassion and care for collaborating with community and diverse stakeholders.

• Supports the delivery of consultation and engagement with respect and listening.

• Provide project management services to ensure the effective delivery of the Redress Scheme.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project work implementation support and coordination:

· Support project planning, delivery and implementation as guided by the Project Manager.

· Ensure monitoring against deliverables and key milestones delivered through visual project dashboards among others, for diverse audiences.

· Update the project plan, communication plan and consultation plan as required.

· Create an initial risk assessment for the project and maintain the risk assessment with weekly updates, and actions that mitigate risk wherever possible.

· Assist in the coordination of logistics, venues, cultural protocols, and travel requirements from time to time.

Stakeholder engagement and relationships:

· Build and maintain strong relationships with Yokai members and Survivors of the Stolen Generations, government departments and other stakeholders.

· Maintain log of Survivor queries and questions regarding the Redress Scheme.

· Assist in coordinating culturally safe survivor engagement sessions.

· Engage with the cohort of Survivors to facilitate outcomes of healing, truth telling, and training.

Quality assurance:

· Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement throughout the Project term.

· Assist in analysing Survivor concerns capturing community sentiment to improve Project delivery and outcomes for beneficiaries.

· Coordinate surveys and data collection for project planning.

Governance:

· Contribute and adhere to governance systems.

· Assist in the provision of timely reports and presentations on the progress of the project to the CEO and Government as required and guided by the Agreement.

· Working with the Project Manager support the coordination of an Advisory Group for the purpose of project governance, accountability, and information sharing.

Essential

1) Must possess significant knowledge and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with specific understanding of the Stolen Generations.

2)Awareness of and can work to BTHWA’s mission of truth justice and healing as well as WASGAC’s strategic objectives.

3) Demonstrated experience in project management skills within community sector, including the ability to plan, prioritise, make decisions and meet deadlines.

4) Well-developed verbal and written communication skills. including the ability to produce clear and concise reports, and project reports.

5) Good conceptual, research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

6) Well-developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Public speaking, ability to present and deliver training to an audience

7) Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and prioritise work.

8) Strong experience in stakeholder engagement.

In addition to the above, the desirable criteria are:

The person identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community;

Qualifications in the area of project management or equivalent experience.
