About the role

Howard Porter is currently looking for an experienced Senior Storesperson to join our team at Howard Porter in Spearwood, WA. This full-time role and is crucial in managing and overseeing the efficient operation of the stores department. As Senior Storesperson, you will be responsible for leading a team of warehouse operatives and ensuring the smooth flow of inwards and outwards goods through the stores area.

Tasks include:

Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day stores operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing and dispatching goods,

Developing and implementing effective inventory control systems to maintain accurate records and minimise stock discrepancies,

Overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and operational procedures,

Analysing stock data and forecasting trends to optimise inventory levels and identify opportunities for process improvements

Collaborating with production, procurement, and sales teams to align inventory with customer demand

Maintaining accurate inventory records and stock control systems,

Ensuring all warehouse activities adhere to health, safety and quality standards

Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing more efficient stores practices

Liaising with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to resolve any issues or queries as required,

Overseeing the workflow and performance of the stores team, providing training, support and guidance as needed

Providing detailed reporting and performance data to the management team

What we're looking for

Significant experience (5+ years) in a senior Storesperson or warehouse supervisor role, ideally within the manufacturing, transport or logistics industries,

Strong organisational and people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team,

Excellent inventory management and stock control skills, with a keen eye for detail,

Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiencies,

Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Forklift licence and experience operating stores and/or warehouse equipment,
