The Shire of Capel is seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor Parks to lead a dedicated team in maintaining and enhancing our parks, ovals, reserves and associated assets. This role involves not only overseeing daily operations but also fostering a positive team culture, providing clear direction and supporting staff development. Working as part of a collaborative organisation, you’ll contribute to the livability of our growing community while enjoying variety, autonomy and a strong work-life balance.
The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. As our Supervisor Parks, you will lead and support a team responsible for maintaining public parks, ovals and related assets across the Shire. You’ll oversee the daily work of staff and contractors, ensuring tasks are carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll also contribute to planning, budgeting and asset improvement activities, working closely with the Coordinator Parks and other internal teams. This is a hands-on, people-focused role that plays a vital part in enhancing our public open spaces.

- Base annual salary $85,000 per annum dependent on skills, experience and qualifications
- Annual leave loading of 17.5%

Desired Skills and Experience:

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
- Supervisory experience and strong leadership skills
- A background in parks, sports field, streetscape or reserve maintenance
- HR class driver’s licence and Construction Safety Awareness (White Card)
- Contract management experience
- Qualifications in horticulture or landscaping, alongside turf and irrigation maintenance experience
- Knowledge of WHS Regulations and computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook)
Qualifications in traffic management (Basic Worksite Traffic Management, Traffic Control and/or Advanced Worksite Traffic Management), along with experience or certification in chainsaw use, will be highly regarded. Experience working in a similar role within local government is also desirable.
