💰 Salary: $62,000–$70,000 pro rata (commensurate with experience)
🕒 Hours: Split shift | 6:30am–8:30am & 3:30pm–5:30pm | School terms only

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and personable School Bus Driver (School Services Officer – Category D) to join the school’s team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and timely transportation of students to and from school.
Reporting to the Principal (via delegate), the successful applicant will be responsible for transporting students safely on a scheduled route and maintaining a professional and caring presence during all interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a school bus along a designated route, collecting and dropping off students at scheduled stops.
Manage student behaviour respectfully and calmly to ensure a safe and positive environment.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness, safety, and cleanliness.
Promptly report any maintenance or mechanical concerns.
Maintain accurate records (e.g. passenger counts, safety logs).
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding any relevant issues or concerns.
Attend training sessions or briefings related to safety, child protection, and compliance.
Child Safety Commitment
The school is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all students. Staff are required to uphold the school’s child safety standards in accordance with Ministerial Order No. 1359, maintain current certifications, and demonstrate appropriate behaviour when engaging with students.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have:
Driving Expertise: A clean driving record with demonstrated experience operating school buses or heavy vehicles.
Professional Conduct: Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and discretion.
Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, approachable, and confident in managing student behaviour.
Time Management & Problem Solving: Ability to adhere to schedules and respond effectively to unexpected situations.
Licensing & Checks:
Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence (manual & automatic)
Current Working with Children Check
Current National Police Check
Willingness to comply with school and CEMEA standards
Additional Information
This is a part-time role (0.53 FTE), working during school terms only.
Responsible for transporting 35–57 female students, aged 12–18.
Uniform provided (shirt and jacket).
Previous school bus driving experience is highly regarded.
