Position Details
- Full-Time, Maximum Term Contract until 30TH June 2026 (Part-Time also considered)
- Classification: SCHADS Level 4 with a salary range of $88,169- $94,888 per annum (pro rata) + Superannuation

- Location: Hybrid model, working 2 days from the office in Fairfield and working from home.

About your new role
The Department of Health is funding the MHCSS Intake service to deliver the Mental Health NDIS Access Project. The NDIS Access Project commenced in June 2018 and is currently funded until June 30, 2026. The NDIS Access Project is a time limited initiative that will support people with a severe mental illness andsubstantial and enduring psychosocial disability to collect and collate the evidence required for a NDIS access request. The NDIS Access Project targets people who:
- Meet the NDIA's disability, age and residency requirements;
- are working with a general practitioner, psychiatrist or clinical mental health service (this does not include area mental health services);
- consumers that have been discharged from area mental health services and are seeking evidence from the health service to complete their NDIS access request.
The NDIS Access Project aims to assist consumers experiencing significant social and economic disadvantage to apply to the scheme, with a priority focus on people experiencing homelessness; dual diagnosis; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; and people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
We are looking for either a Lived Experience Intake and Assessment Coordinator or an Intake and Assessment Coordinator.
Lived Experience Intake & Assessment Coordinator
The Lived Experience Intake and Assessment Coordinator will form part of a highly skilled team and is the point of contact for; addressing enquiries, program eligibility screening, receiving referrals and reviewing referrals to ensure the right level of care is provided, undertaking consumer assessments and providing phone-based support to complete the NDIS access process.
Lived Experience workers apply the Lived Experience lens as their primary way of working. Drawing on the National Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Guidelines, the Lived Experience lens is:
- Understanding of history of consumer movement, advocacy and actions
- Working from National guidelines LE workforce and ability to apply values and principles of LE workforce.
- Learnings from personal experience of mental health challenges, distress, and periods of healing, which may include service use.
- Collective knowledge of universal lived experiences such a stigma, marginalisation, loss of power, and system hurt, as well as hope, healing and personal recovery as real
- Professional principles and values such as mutuality, intersectionality, autonomy, hope and sharing power.

Whatyou will bring to the role
- Experience and qualification in mental health and community services is desirable
- Experience and knowledge of NDIS will be an advantage
- Strong understanding of supporting people experiencing emotional distress through their recovery journey; and an ability to articulate and promote the value of strengths gained from lived experiences or recovery
- Ability to role model and develop recovery orientation and trauma-informed practices across the service
- Demonstrate integrity, credibility, and ability to foster open communication
- Ability to work in a fast paced, changing and dynamic environment
- Experience working with consumer information systems, maintaining accurate documentation and data collection.
- High level of interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to prioritise multiple tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with consumers, staff and partner organisations.
- Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and identify changing needs within a group.
- Transferable sector knowledge and experience.
- Awareness of risk assessment and principals of risk management.
- Strong computer literacy.
