The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Draftsperson to join our growing Workshop team based at our Head Office in Yatala, supporting operations and infrastructure projects across Australia.
This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to kickstart your engineering drafting career in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience, working alongside experienced professionals and contributing directly to real-world projects.
This role is ideal for recent graduates or students nearing the completion of their engineering or drafting qualification, who are eager to learn and grow within a supportive and fast-paced team.
Reporting to the Workshop Operations Manager, you will work closely with internal and external teams to develop high-quality technical drawings that support our construction and engineering operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide drafting support across a variety of projects, including:
Inventor (3D Design): Create parts, develop and modify assemblies, and produce manufacturing drawings.
AutoCAD (2D Drawings): Prepare construction site layouts and detailed technical drawings.
SketchUp (3D Visualisation): Create 3D models to provide visual context of construction site for our tender projects.
Assist with design revisions and the creation of accurate as-built drawings.
Ensure all drawings meet Rob Carr’s drafting standards and QA procedures.
Work to strict project deadlines and contribute to the delivery of innovative design solutions.
What We’re Looking For
Basic experience or training in Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or SketchUp (advantageous).
A willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate within a team.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet project milestones.
Interest or background in mechanical design and/or civil construction (desirable).

About Rob Carr
Rob Carr Pty Ltd has completed a number of sewerage, drainage, water, storm water and gas projects for a variety of government authorities and private industry. Our client list of government authorities includes but is not limited to Queensland Urban Utilities, Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast Water and City Council, Link Water, Sydney Water, South East Water, Melbourne Water, Water Corporation WA, Toowoomba City Council and the Northern Territory Government. Our client list of construction industry companies includes Leighton Contractors, Baulderstone, John Holland, Mcconnell Dowell, Thiess, Bovis Lend Lease, Tenix, United Group, Fulton Hogan and associations with several Program Alliances including the SPS Program Alliance, BMP Alliance, Sewerfix and Networks Alliances, Brisbane Airport Link & LAP.
The company was formed in 1989 in Victoria, working both as a sub contractor and head contractor on sewage, water and drainage works. There as a main and pre qualified contractor, Rob Carr Pty Ltd performed a multitude of work as part of the Sewage Infill Program in Western Australia. Until now, Rob Carr Pty Ltd has completed the installation of several hundred kilometers of gravity mains for sewer, storm-water and power. Also pressure mains for water, sewer and gas. Building 10 pump stations and also connecting well over 5000 properties to sewer infrastructure.
