Manager, Learning and Organisational Development

Clerk Grade 11/12

Permanent, full-time role - 35 hours per week

Clerk Grade base salary between $149,739 and $173,174 plus super and annual leave loading

Sydney Office (Haymarket) with flexible/hybrid work arrangements available

About us

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

About you

As the Manager of Learning and Organisational Development, you will lead with vision, aligning workplace culture, behaviours, and performance with strategic priorities. Drawing on your expertise in organisational development, strategic planning, and project management, you will design and deliver evidence-based initiatives that empower teams, build leadership capability, and drive measurable outcomes.

In this role, you will thrive in a dynamic environment, lead transformative initiatives, manage multiple strategic projects while navigating complexity with agility and innovation. Your ability to engage stakeholders, foster collaboration, and influence change will be pivotal in shaping an inclusive, high-performing workplace culture.

You bring exceptional communication and facilitation skills, coupled with the capacity to lead multidisciplinary teams with confidence and professionalism. The essential requirements for this role

You must:

Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check

Hold an Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency

Relevant qualifications in HR, organisational development or organisational psychology, and/or demonstrated practical experience

Key knowledge and experience:

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Psychology or a related field, or demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Deep experience developing and implementing organisational development strategies and initiatives with high level facilitation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build and establish effective relationships with senior stakeholders

Demonstrated strategic planning and project management skills and

Experience leading a multidisciplinary team in a complex organisation

Legal Aid NSW is a state-wide organisation providing legal services to socially and economically disadvantaged people across NSW. We deliver legal services in most areas of criminal, family and civil law. Our services are provided through our Central Sydney office and 21 regional offices. Legal Aid NSW employs approximately 900 staff. Legal Aid NSW delivers legal services in partnership with the private legal profession through grants of legal aid. In 2011-12 private lawyers represented 42.5% of legal aid clients. We work closely with our partners including LawAccess NSW, Community Legal Centres and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service NSW/ACT. The long-term strategic direction of Legal Aid NSW is overseen by a Board, appointed by the Attorney General. The day-to-day management is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer, assisted by a Senior Executive. Legal Aid NSW was established in 1979, when it was known as the Legal Services Commission, before becoming the Legal Aid Commission of NSW in 1987.
