Peer Practice Lead

Position Details

  • Part-Time, Permanent Position (0.5FTE)
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 5 with a salary range of $100,875 - $105,439 per annum pro rata + Superannuation

About your new role

The Peer Practice Lead (PPL) is responsible for leading the Intake and Assessment Coordinators (IAC), including Lived Experience (LE) practitioners as part of the Darling Downs West Moreton Medicare Mental Health phone service. The PPL, LEIAC and IAC use a person-centred approach to connect with consumers and explore their support needs across the Initial Assessment Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST). LE practitioners operate as part of a high-quality transdisciplinary team. This transdisciplinary team includes mental health clinicians, including a Clinical Lead.

The PPL will maintain a positive culture, quality coaching, supervision and to motivate high performance alongside their Service Manager and Clinical Lead.

You must have a personal lived or living experience of mental health challenges, distress, injustice, and journey of wellbeing/healing, and ability to apply learnings from this as your primary way of working.

What you will bring to the role

  • It is a requirement of the Peer Practice Lead position that you hold, and provide Neami evidence of, a Mental Health Peer Work qualification, Certificate IV level or above, or complete such a qualification within 2 years of your commencement of employment
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with government and non-government health and welfare service providers with use of practical strategies to improve service delivery to consumers
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and empower staff members through guidance, coaching and mentoring
  • Proven experience at managing teams within the area of community service delivery or providing supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health intake and supporting consumers with presenting mental health concerns
  • Personal lived/living experience of recovery as an individual or as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma
  • Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery
  • Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instill confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery
