Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Principal Aboriginal Consultant to join our team at the Blair Athol office on a full-time term basis.
The role is responsible for:
Collaborating with Regional Directors and other leaders to review complex cases, provide evidence-based advice, and ensure culturally safe practice.
Participating in Aboriginal Practice Leader networks and leadership forums to influence practice and policy.
Researching innovative cultural practices and tools to promote a culture of reflective learning and continuous improvement.
Supporting staff knowledge on cultural practices, policies and procedures through discussions, assessments, and continuous learning.
To be successful, you will have:
Demonstrated knowledge on achieving improved outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people, their families and carers.
Experience in providing culturally appropriate social work services, supporting Aboriginal children, youth, and families.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal people in a culturally safe manner.
Proven high quality interpersonal and communication skills including legally defensible writing.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
