Shape the voice of Banyule from the inside out.
Based in leafy Greensborough, we're looking for a dynamic and driven Internal Communications Officer to join our Communications team in a full-time secondment cover position until June 2026. In this role, you'll help keep our 1,000+ staff informed, connected, and inspired – playing a key role in how we communicate across Council and deliver on our community goals.

You'll be playing a key role in communicating the things that matter/ From CEO updates to internal initiatives that support our Community Vision, you'll lead creative and strategic internal channels, including our The Weekly (our staff newsletter) and our newly developed intranet. The day-to-day of this role looks like:
- Coordinating and delivering email communications (EDMs) for business units across Council
- Crafting and sharing internal messages from the CEO and executive team
- Supporting and promoting key staff initiatives and internal committees
- Running and supporting live staff events, from Q&As to cultural events
- Designing communications collateral and editing content to ensure consistency, clarity, and engagement
- Contributing to Council's external staff-facing content via LinkedIn
What you'll bring/what we are looking for:
You're a person who can lead internal storytelling and internal communications strategies to inform, engage and inspire. You'll have strong writing, editing and content development skills across digital channels – and you'll also have:
- Proven experience managing internal communications, ideally in a complex or government setting
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders with confidence
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Design skills (Canva, Adobe Suite or similar) are a bonus
Flexibility in working hours to support delivery of events outside of normal business hours (evenings, weekends) may be required.
Pre-employment requirements:
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence

About Banyule City Council
Banyule is less than 30 minutes travelling time from the CBD and it has an excellent public transport network with the Melbourne-Hurstbridge Railway Line running through it. There are nine railway stations within Banyule offering interesting and varied destinations from Ivanhoe, Eaglemont and Heidelberg in the south, which are nestled in a beautiful section of the Yarra Valley and steeped in history, to the rolling wooded hills of Montmorency in the north.
