Help Keep Our Community Safe — One Lap at a time
If you’re someone who stays calm in high-pressure moments, notices the little things others miss, and takes pride in being the reason families feel safe in the water — this could be your next chapter.

About Us

The Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC) has surpassed all expectations, making a positive impact on our community's health and wellbeing. As National Award Winners of the 2024 SWIM Australia SWIMSafter Award of excellence and 2024 AUSactive Quality Accredited Business of the year, we don’t settle for the status quo.

Our numerous accolades speak to the passion and dedication we pour into everything we do. Joining our team means becoming part of a forward-thinking, community-focused, and award-winning centre with a commitment to continuous improvement.

About the Role

As a Pool Lifeguard at AFAC, you won’t just be supervising swimmers — you’ll be creating a welcoming, safe, and high-standard aquatic experience for our growing community.

You’ll:

  • Provide vigilant pool supervision, quick emergency response, and excellent customer care
  • Keep our aquatic areas safe, clean, and calm — even during busy peak times
  • Monitor patron behaviour and uphold safety policies with professionalism
  • Collaborate with a supportive, well-trained team who’ve got your back every shift
  • Be a visible and valued presence — often the first to notice when someone needs help

You’ll be based at AFAC, the beating heart of health and wellbeing in Armadale, and a multi-award-winning centre known for its innovation and inclusive approach to community fitness.

About You

You’re someone who:

  • Is calm under pressure and confident in the water
  • Genuinely cares about helping others feel safe and supported
  • Can adapt to a variety of shifts — including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Works well in a team, but also takes personal responsibility

You’ll require:

  • A current Pool Lifeguard certificate (essential)
  • A current Provide First Aid HLTAID011 (Essential).
  • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • (Ideally) some previous lifeguard experience at a public pool but not essential

What it is Like Working Here

We are a values led organisation guided by our belief that we:

  • Care
  • Are Better, Together
  • Learn & Grow
  • Seize Today, Shape Tomorrow

Joining our team means embracing a culture where we look after ourselves, and each other. We actively listen and give and receive constructive feedback. We build and strengthen resilience, in ourselves, in our organisation, and in the community. We are mindful of our impacts and encouraged to make responsible and sustainable decisions.

Perks and Benefits

  • Free access to AFAC’s gym, pool, sauna and fitness classes.
  • A wide variety of shift options.
  • A values-driven, people-first team culture.
  • Working at a state of the art facility.
