Your role:
As a Marine Technician, you’ll be a valued member of a team, operating and maintaining the marine equipment that allows the Army to successfully carry out exercises and operations.
Working with other qualified technicians, you’ll inspect, repair, modify and recondition a wide variety of Army Marine Equipment. You’ll get to work in a range of different environments, from Army bases around Australia to locations out in the field on deployments, exercises and humanitarian operations.
Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:
diagnosing, maintaining and repairing the Army's fleet of marine equipment
performing safety and technical inspections on marine safety equipment and large vessels
working as part of a crew on a vessel
working with specialised teams on advanced Vessel HVAC, electronic and hydraulic systems
general soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, navigation, and camouflaging vehicles and field equipment.

Location:
Following training, your initial posting will likely be to an Army Maritime Unit in Darwin or Townsville. Subsequent postings can be to various locations and units throughout Australia, including Special Operations Units and Amphibious Battalions.
Salary:
In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $58,525 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $92,593 per annum plus generous super.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
