About our team
The Formation and Engagement Services oversees BCE's core strategic priority to deepen the understanding of and engagement with the Catholic Tradition, Scripture, and Theology among employees, students, and families through professional development, formation and experiential opportunities, alongside the development of contemporary resources that embed the Catholic Identity Framework within BCE schools and offices. This service area is comprised of three portfolios: Religious Education and Student Formation; Leadership and Staff Formation; and Engagement and Family Formation. This service area of BCE articulates a contemporary Catholic Christian worldview, to animate the centrality of Jesus and responsibility to enact Catholic Social Teachings. This includes creation and oversight of experiential learning opportunities, including pilgrimages; In- and On-Country Encounters; and Religious Education Conferences.
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Advisor to join the dynamic new Formation and Engagement Services team at Brisbane Catholic Education to deliver the Archdiocesan Religious Education Curriculum. Through this, you will enhance knowledge of Catholic Tradition, Scripture, and Theology among employees, students, and families through engaging professional development and formation opportunities, leading to a greater understanding of their role in Catholic education.

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Identify opportunities to build knowledge of the Catholic Tradition, Scripture, and Theology among teachers and students.
- Create and implement experiential opportunities for student formation through retreats and external opportunities.
- Lead the delivery and monitoring of the Archdiocese of Brisbane Religious Education Curriculum P-12, including QCAA requirements.
- Provide strategic advice and professional learning to build BCE school and office capacity in enhancing Religious Education and student formation.
- Undertake research to improve policies, practices, and professional learning programs.
- Collaborate on the development of recontextualised Religious Education unit samples and associated resources.
- Plan and facilitate professional learning for school leaders and staff in Religious Education and theological formation.
- Work in partnership with school-based role holders, leadership teams, and BCEO teams to enhance student formation and theological Catholic Identity development practices.
- Analyse and interpret school data to deliver outcomes and make recommendations to enhance student learning in Religious Education.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- A committed practising Catholic with an understanding of the purpose and mission of the Catholic Church and Catholic schools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire others in the development and implementation of Religious Education and student formation programs.
- Leading a variety of projects to meet operational outcomes.
- Capacity to provide strategic advice and develop policies that enhance Religious Education and student formation.
- Conducted high level reviews and investigations linked to organisational performance.
- Written specialised reports and committee papers on projects you have led.
- Worked with multiple stakeholders and leadership teams in your area of specialty.
- Possession of Masters level qualifications in Religious Education, Theology, leadership, spirituality, or a similar relevant field
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
- Full registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
