The Company
We’re working with a well-established, Sydney-based HVAC contractor that’s been getting the job done (and done well) for over 25 years. With a rock-solid reputation in the commercial, education, and retail sectors, they’ve built their name on delivering quality projects ranging from $200k to $10 million — without the drama.

Thanks to a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, they’re now on the lookout for an HVAC Project Estimator to join the team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll work closely with an experienced Senior Estimator who knows the ropes (and won’t make you guess where things are filed).
What You'll Be Doing (aka The Important Stuff):

• Defining project scope in collaboration with the Project Director and Project Managers (aka the people who make things happen).
• Getting stuck into project specs and drawings — no surprises here, you’ll need to know your way around these like the back of your hand.
• Analysing drawings, tender packages, proposals, and anything else that helps paint the full cost picture.
• Sourcing and negotiating prices with suppliers and subcontractors — ideally without resorting to carrier pigeon or guesswork.
• Preparing and submitting tender proposals that hit the mark (on time and on point).
• Estimating labour, materials, and resources to ensure the project gets done on budget and on time.
• Thinking ahead — determining how the project will be measured and evaluated once it’s all wrapped up.
• Making sure all WHS compliance requirements are factored in from the get-go.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 3 years’ estimating experience within the Australian HVAC industry.
• Comfortable working on projects in the $200k–$10M range — you know what to look for and where the traps are.
• A communicator — you’ll need to pick up the phone, speak with suppliers, negotiate with subcontractors, and (occasionally) charm a client or two.
• Detail-oriented and commercially savvy — you're just as comfortable reading a mechanical drawing as you are discussing margins.
• Someone who knows the industry, knows the players, and knows how to pull together a competitive, accurate bid.
