The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Organisational Development Team’s primary focus is to assist IUIH meet its strategic objective of growing and developing a competent and enabled health workforce. IUIH continues to experience significant workforce growth, necessitating a focus on development, management and implementation of frameworks and programs to: increase Indigenous workforce participation, build required workforce skill sets, train existing staff to maximise opportunities for business development and quality of care, build workforce pathways, and to create and nurture an innovative, inclusive, reflective and respectful environment built on Aboriginal Ways
About the Role?
This position will work collaboratively with IUIH Network Senior Managers and the Lead, Cultural Integrity, to ensure the continual alignment and implementation of IUIH’s Indigenous Employment Strategy and Organisational Development Action Plans. The roles key functional area is Workforce Learning and Development, ensuring a planned and systemic change in organisational and individual performance, practices, and behaviours to enable IUIH to meet its strategic and operational objectives. The role is a full-time fixed term role providing Mat leave coverage until August 2026 with potential for extension.
Within this role, you will be required to:
• Identify the evolving and current workforce development needs of staff and business units.
• Contribute to the review of the IUIH Indigenous Employment Strategy and subsequent Workforce Action Plans to meet the IUIH’s strategic priorities
• Oversee the development and implementation of a range of organisational capability development programs addressing; Supervisor Skills, job /functional Professional Skills development and other job skills needs
• Project manage the design, implementation, and review of required Workforce development Frameworks and activities.
• Oversee the design, refinement and implementation of Development Pathways for Business units and ‘disciplines’ which embed the IUIH CIIF and Clinical Quality and Safety standards
• Work with Senior Management to develop strategies and programs to meet the identified critical/priority workforce skills/job role needs e.g., Home Support, Health Workers, Medical Receptionists
• Oversee the development and delivery of training materials to support Development Pathways ensuring training supports the development and core functions across the IUIH Network and services
About You?
• Relevant qualification in health care
• 5+ years demonstrated management experience in a comparable not for profit, or similar organisation
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
• Ability to travel across Southeast Queensland (SEQ) as required
• Current Blue Card
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
• Current Criminal History Check
Desirable, but not mandatory:
• Demonstrated experience working in community-based health services
