The Opportunity:

  • Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment
  • $160,000 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading
  • Moorabbin – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport | Travel to other campuses will be required.

The Faculty of Health Science, Community & Social Studies (HSCSS) at Holmesglen provides a progressive, innovative, and supportive teaching environment with strong professional links and partnerships within the health, science, and community services sector. The faculty has five departments and offers courses from Certificate III through to degree courses in nursing, dental, health, aged care, disability, allied health, science, and a range of community services and justice courses.

The Holmesglen Simulation Centre is also based within the HSCSS faculty. Holmesglen is a recognised leader in the delivery of simulation-based education both locally and internationally. Simulation is an important aspect of course delivery at Holmesglen. The world-class simulation facilities located at Moorabbin and Chadstone campuses are a catalyst for preparing our nursing, health, aged care, disability, dental and community services students for work and has attracted high quality industry partners.

Holmesglen Institute, in partnership with Healthscope, is seeking a Clinical Chair to lead and develop a sustainable nursing research program while promoting educational excellence. In this conjoint role, you will provide academic leadership, develop research strategies, and foster a culture of scholarly inquiry within both institutions.

This position offers an opportunity to shape the future of nursing education, research, and clinical practice through innovative approaches and cutting-edge simulation-based education.

As the Associate Professor, you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of nursing research programs at Holmesglen and Healthscope.
  • Drive educational innovation, including the integration of simulation-based learning.
  • Oversee the use of simulation facilities, supporting both educational and operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain strong research partnerships nationally and internationally.
  • Secure external research funding, mentor early career researchers, lead curriculum development and foster academic excellence in the faculty.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to translate research into clinical practice improvements.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant area, along with a nursing degree.
  • Strong leadership skills with extensive experience in the health and education sectors.
  • Skilled in curriculum development and passionate about driving innovation in education, particularly through simulation-based methodologies.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build effective partnerships with industry, academia, and clinical teams.
  • Highly organised, with strong strategic planning abilities and the capacity to lead complex initiatives.
  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
